No third Milan stint for Beckham

David Beckham will not return to the San Siro for a third time, AC Milan coach Massimo Allegri has said.

The LA Galaxy midfielder has twice played for Milan on loan and injured his Achilles tendon while playing for the Rossoneri in March.

Asked if the 35-year-old would play again for AC Milan this coming season, Allegri said: "I do not think so.

"He is now recovering from a very bad injury and at that age I think it is very difficult to come back."

Beckham and his sons were in the stands at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as Milan drew 1-1 in a pre-season tournament with Arsenal.

The former England skipper is contracted to the LA Galaxy but has twice gone on loan to Milan during Major League Soccer's off-season to maintain his fitness improve his chances of England selection.

However, the Achilles injury Beckham suffered against in March prevented him from appearing for England at a fourth World Cup.

Despite his injury, Beckham joined Fabio Capello's England backroom staff in South Africa.

And the MLS figurehead has said he hopes to return to fitness in September - two months earlier than had originally been predicted.

Beckham has been linked with West Ham in recent days but the Leytonstone-born midfielder said he was happy at LA Galaxy, the club he joined in 2007.
