Aberdeen breezed into the third round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup at the expense of 10-man Alloa.

Alloa goalkeeper Stephen Robertson was sent off for hauling down Fraser Fyvie in the 18th minute and Dons captain Paul Hartley scored from the spot.

And the Dons doubled their lead at Recreation Park before half-time courtesy of Rory McArdle's header.

Mark McGhee's side grabbed a third when Chris Maguire's long-range effort flew past substitute keeper Thomas Flynn.
