Manchester City's Mario Balotelli will miss Thursday's Europa League second leg tie at home to FC Timisoara after failing to recover from a knee problem.
The striker suffered the injury in Romania, where he scored the only goal in the first leg, and sat out Monday's 3-0 win over Liverpool.
England midfielder James Milner is ineligible for the match because he was not registered in time.
Aleksander Kolarov, Jerome Boateng and Wayne Bridge are all out injured.
City manager Roberto Mancini could take the opportunity to start with David Silva, Patrick Vieira and Shaun Wright-Phillips, who were all unused substitutes against Liverpool.
Emmanuel Adebayor and Brazilian Jo may also feature from the off, while Mancini admits he faces a difficult decision whether to draft in goalkeeper Shay Given or stick with Joe Hart, who has impressed as their number one so far this season.
Manchester City (from): Hart, Given, Richards, Zabaleta, Lescott, K Toure, Kompany, Wright-Phillips, Johnson, Barry, Silva, Vieira, De Jong, Y Toure, Tevez, Adebayor, Jo, Logan.
