Sachin Tendulkar had little chance to make an impression on day one of the third Test against Sri Lanka as he became the most capped player in Tests.

The India legend is making his 169th appearance, passing the record of former Australia captain Steve Waugh.

After winning the toss and batting, Sri Lanka's middle order guided them to 293-4 at the close in Colombo.

Captain Kumar Sangakkara top-scored with a fine 75, while Thilan Samaraweera was 65 not out at stumps.
