Doyle content after Republic win

Kevin Doyle
Kevin Doyle's glorious strike put the Republic 2-0 up in Dublin

Man of the match Kevin Doyle was content after the Republic of Ireland moved to the top of their Euro 2012 qualifying group by beating Andorra.

Kevin Kilbane and Doyle put the Republic 2-0 before Christian Martinez's shock reply but Robbie Keane's goal made the game safe.

"We would have liked to have scored a couple more goals but we'll take 3-1," said Doyle.

"We've six points and we're sitting pretty after the two games."

Doyle acknowledged that the 201st ranked Andorrans had made life "difficult" for the Irish.

"It was stop-start and a tough game.

"It was a no-win situation. We were expected to win the game comfortably but it was not that easy.

"They were very clever at stopping things and winning free-kicks and made it difficult for us."

Doyle produced another industrious evening in attack and hammered in the goal of the match with his left foot from outside the box in the 41st minute.

"I struck it nicely. When they fly in like that, they look pretty good."

Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni was content with his team's endeavours.

"(After the Armenia game) They understood that they had to play with the same pressure against their opponents tonight," said the Republic boss.

"That we immediately scored was good.

"We lost a bit of concentration and we conceded their goal but there was a good reaction in the second half.

"The team deserved to win this game.

"In every game, the team understands me better. (Aiden) McGeady played a great game."
