Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has not travelled with the team for their Europa League match at FC Utrecht.

The midfielder has been rested for Thursday's match, while manager Roy Hodgson has also left defender Daniel Agger out of his squad.

But Fernando Torres, who has only one goal for the Reds this term, will be in a 20-man squad in the Netherlands.

Paul Konchesky (hamstring) and Fabio Aurelio (Achilles) are out but Dirk Kuyt is set to face his former club.

Kuyt returned to action in the 2-2 draw against Sunderland at the weekend after recovering from a shoulder injury.

With the absence of Agger, Konchesky and and Aurelio, 20-year-old Martin Kelly is likely to be switched to left-back.

Liverpool defeated Steaua Bucharest 4-1 in their previous Europa League match at Anfield on 16 September.
