1640: I bring more news of Oliver Golding. And it's not good. Artunedo Martinavarr has broken back on Court 14. I'm not going to wheel out a Brit-down graphic just yet though, because the first set is merely back on serve at 4-4.
1637: That's the first set in the bag for Clijsters, who took 31 minutes to win it 6-2. French Open champion Francesca Schiavone is well on the way to doing the same against Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova too - the Italian is leading 4-2 (and making plenty of noise from what I can hear).

1632: Kim Clijsters has taken control of this first set in the last few minutes, breaking Ivanovic in her last two games and opening up a 5-2 lead. She's dropped her own serve in that time too, but her big-hitting approach is paying off at the minute.
1627: There are an array of tennis treats in store for us today but it won't be the same unless you lot get involved. You know the score by now - show me some love on

1617: It's been a lively opening on Ashe, where Ana Ivanovic saw two break points come and go in the first game before facing (and saving) one herself in the second. Her and Kim Clijsters are both attacking at every opportunity in the early stages, which has made for an open match so far. The Belgian is ahead 2-1 and we are still on serve in this first set.
1613 Ivanovic versus Clijsters has just started on Arthur Ashe, which hopefully is less windy than it was on Saturday. Elsewhere, Francesca Schiavone and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova are about to get under way on Louis Armstrong and David Nalbandian takes on Fernando Verdasco on Grandstand. If that little lot is not enough for you, there's an all-Spanish clash going on Court 11 between David Ferrer and Daniel Gimeno-Traver too.
1607: Here's some news for you too. Roger Federer's new coach Paul Annacone, who was due to leave his post as head coach of the LTA when his contract ends in November, has departed early to avoid a possible conflict of interest if Andy Murray and Fed meet in the final at Flushing Meadows.

1559: Afternoon, folks. If you're after top-drawer tennis, you are in the right place. The line-up for day seven of the US Open positively oozes with quality, starting with the meeting of two former number ones in Ana Ivanovic and Kim Clijsters and followed by potentially tricky ties for Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal. The likes of Venus Williams, Sam Querrey and Mikhail Youzhny are all in action, too. Who will make it through into week two? We will find out in the next few hours...
