Verdasco was made to pay for a poor start to the match in Thailand
|
Second seed Fernando Verdasco crashed out of the Thailand Open with a defeat in the second round by Benjamin Becker.
The Spanish world number eight looked sluggish from the start as he slumped to a 4-0 first-set deficit.
The 26-year-old briefly rallied but German Becker held on and the current world number 65 proved clinical in the second set to earn a 6-4 6-4 win.
Earlier, Serbian seventh-seed Viktor Troicki - runner-up last year - beat Finn Jarkko Nieminen 7-6 (7-4) 6-2.
