2046: Paul Dixon is coming off for Barry Douglas, a straight switch for Dundee United at Fir Park. The game has restarted.
2044: Some support, of sorts, for the estimable Ricardo Gordon: "Cheer up Richard. Things can only get better in the second half. On second thoughts I saw them really struggle in the three games they have played against my team Raith Rovers recently." Kevin in Kirkcaldy by text to 80295.
Jim from Stonehaven, by text to 80295: "Adults £19. Concession £12. Aberdeen really need to look at their prices for games like this."
|
2037: "This is eerily reminiscent of the match against Raith Rovers." BBC Radio Scotland host Richard Gordon senses the ghost of cup exits past
2034: Oh, boy. First Division Falkirk are 45 minutes away from adding their name to the list of smaller clubs who have knocked Aberdeen out of a cup. Queen of the South, Raith Rovers, Dunfermline, Queen's Park, Stenhousemuir...
|
2033: "We're going to be here all night, Charles." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Allan Preston to colleague Chick Young on a fruitless first half at Fir Park.
|
2031: Beesher, a Motherwell fan, has texted 80295. He - or is it she? - can remember previous versions of the League Cup. "I seem to recall the mighty Raith Rovers disposing of Celtic in the final of the Coca Cola Cup!"
2029: Two minutes to go until half-time at Pittodrie.
2028: Mark Stewart breaks for Falkirk but is tracked by Rory McArdle, who is on a booking.
2025: Mehdi Khalis is beating Scott Vernon every time at set-pieces. Another goal by the big Frenchman and the Dons will have a panic in their breastie. Hmm, what would Robert Burns make of the Aberdeen performance so far?
2024: A great one-two between Nick Blackman and Alan Gow sends Blackman on his way towards goal but United keeper Dusan Pernis comes out to meet him to deny the final shot at goal.
2023: "Why was Darren Mackie trying to take a touch in such a congested area? He just has to have a strike at goal and take his chances." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Steve Cowan
2021: The first real thrill for a while at Fir Park as Tom Hateley sends a free-kick into the Dundee United box. However, keeper Dusan Pernis was equal to the challenge.

GOAL! Aberdeen 0-1 Falkirk (Khalis)
2017: This is the final year of the sponsorship of the "League Cup" by Co-operative Insurance after a lengthy association with the tournament - it dates back to 1999/2000. Anyone remember when it the Bell's League Cup, the Skol Cup or the Coca-Cola Cup?
2014:Dundee United line up with: Pernis, Dillon, Watson, Kenneth, Dixon, David Robertson, Buaben, Gomis, Scott Robertson, Goodwillie, Daly. Subs: Banks, Cadamarteri, Douglas, Shala, Dow.
2013: That Motherwell team I was promising you: Randolph, Saunders, Craigan, Reynolds, Hammell, Humphrey, Jennings, Hateley, Murphy, Gow, Blackman. Subs: Hollis, Sutton, McHugh, Forbes, Page.
2012: The Bairns enjoy a period of pressure on the Dons goal, but still no sign of the breakthrough.
2010: We may have an explanation for the dreadfully low crowd at Pittodrie. "Part of the reason the crowd might be lower is that there is a queue of at least 300 people outside the South Stand. Not enough gates open." Text from Jim to 80295.
2008: The Dons corner comes to nothing as Zander Diamond fails to connect properly with captain Paul Hartley's kick.
2007: Motherwell have started well but Dundee United are coming into it now.
2006: Aberdeen win their first corner of the match, thanks to Sone Aluko.
2005: That is bad news for Murphy and Motherwell. He has had a good season, not just with the Steelmen but with the Scotland Under-21 team too. Let's hope it's a mere twist and he is back for the next match.
2003: Motherwell's young striker Jamie Murphy lands very awkwardly on his ankle and his contribution is over for the night. John Sutton is getting ready to come on.
2002: It's great to see Sone Aluko having a go at defences again. When he is on his game, Aberdeen look like a different team.
2001: We don't have the definitive team lines yet from Fir Park. I'll bring them to you as soon as I can.
2000: A claim for a penalty at Fir Park, where Willie Collum is in charge. A shot by Paul Dixon is saved by Motherwell keeper Darren Randolph, David Goodwillie pounces on the rebound but ends on the deck. No penalty is awarded, however.
1957: United's Paul Dixon sends a great ball into the Motherwell box from a free-kick but David Goodwillie just cannot turn it goalwards.
1955: Steven Pressley is concerned about Mark Twaddle, but the Falkirk defender looks as if he will be OK.
1954: And the Falkirk side is: Olejnik, Marr, McLean, Khalis, Twaddle, Flynn, Millar, O'Brien, Higginbotham, Finnigan, Stewart. Subs: Barclay, Deuchar, Mitchell, Duffie, Alston.
1954: The Aberdeen team taking on Falkirk at Pittodrie is as follows: Howard, Ifil, McArdle, Diamond, Robertson, Mackie, Hartley, Jack, Aluko, Maguire, Vernon. Subs: Langfield, Young, Velicka, Paton, Magennis.
1953: "Motherwell are playing really well here, they're stroking the ball about nicely." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Allan Preston
1951: Tom Hateley moves the ball to the left and Nick Blackman just couldn't reach it. That really should have been the first goal for Motherwell.
|
1947: "A first chance for Motherwell as Alan Gow makes a mazy run through the United box but the ball ends up out for the first corner of the match." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Chick Young
1946: "Dundee United are playing in their black and white strip and apparently manager Peter Houston says if they don't win tonight, they're going to bin it!" BBC Radio Scotland pundit Chick Young
1945: "Not a bad crowd at Fir Park here tonight." BBC reporter Chick Young at Fir Park
1944: The match at Motherwell has kicked off. No hanging about there, then.
1941: "We are a very young team and that excites me very much. We are a team that are continually progressing and I see big improvements already this season. I am pleased with the way things are going and we went down to Palmerston at the weekend and beat a very good team in Queen of the South and that was a significant result." Falkirk boss Steven Pressley
1938: "We said on Saturday, one result is encouraging, but it won't be easy. It is a big opportunity for both teams. A big semi-final at a neutral venue. We have had to include young Clark Robertson because we had three injuries at the weekend, although Zander Diamond has made it." Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee
1936: Falkirk are unchanged from team that beat Queen of the South 5-1 on Saturday.
1935: Uh-oh, bit of a spat at Aberdeen. Falkirk manager Steven Pressley has apparently had a wee go at Mark McGhee in the papers as the Dons boss expected his team to be in the semi-finals. Pressley obviously thinks it is a bit disrespectful.
1930: Welcome to this evening's live text commentary of the first two quarter-finals in the Co-operative Insurance Cup.
