Kapo completes switch to Celtic

Olivier Kapo in action for Wigan
Kapo has been a free agent since his summer release from Wigan

Celtic have completed a short-term deal for former Birmingham City and Wigan Athletic midfielder Olivier Kapo.

The 30-year-old has signed a contract with Neil Lennon's side until the end of the season.

The one-time French international was a free agent, having been released by Wigan in the summer.

He joined the Latics from Birmingham for a £3.5m fee in July 2008, having moved to St Andrews from Italian giants Juventus a year earlier.

The Ivory Coast-born midfielder broke into the French national side during his days at Auxerre, moving to Juve under freedom of contract in 2004.

Kapo struggled to command a first team place with the Turin club and spent a season on loan at Monaco and a term at Levante in Spain before his switch to Birmingham.

During his two seasons at Wigan, he was in and out of the team and had his contract terminated a year early by mutual consent, having spent the second half of the last campaign on loan at French outfit Boulogne.
