Hull KR centre Chev Walker is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a horrific injury in his side's play-off defeat by Leeds.

Walker suffered a compound fracture of his left leg after colliding with Keith Senior just 11 minutes into the match.

"He's had surgery straight away and we can only be hopeful that they can get it fixed and get it back to normal," said Hull KR coach Justin Morgan.

Morgan blamed the incident in part for his side's 44-8 loss at Headingley.

"It was obviously disruptive and we also lost Scott Murrell with a tooth infection which threw our plans into disarray.

"Hopefully we've got all our bad luck out of the way," Morgan added.

Walker, who is a former Leeds favourite, was given a warm reception by both sets of fans as he was stretchered off.

"Our thoughts are with him," said Leeds coach Brian McClennan.

"Our best wishes go out to him. It good to hear the fans show their respect and sing for him."
