Kilmarnock team bus stuck on M8

The whole of the eastbound carriageway of the M8 has been closed following a lorry fire near Shotts.

The incident has caused lengthy tailbacks and Strathclyde Police have asked drivers not to get out of their cars.

The fire is in the area of junction 5, Kirk of Shotts, and diversions have been set up.

Drivers should exit the M8 at junction 6 (E) onto the A73 (S) and the B7066, returning onto the M8 at Junction 5.

Two football teams are in the traffic jam, resulting in at least one match being postponed.

Kilmarnock FC's bus is caught up in the congestion at Euro Central, which has prevented the team from reaching Tynecastle for their Scottish Premier League match against Hearts.

The game will now be played at 1945 BST on Tuesday.

The Stranraer team bus is also being held up and it looks unlikely that the team will make it to Berwick for its Third Division match.
