1303: HALF-TIME Motherwell 0-0 Rangers

1300: Up the other end and Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor slaps the circulation back into his legs before punching clear Ross Forbes's deep centre. We're into injury time at Fir Park.

1259: Motherwell goalkeeper John Ruddy somehow blocks Madjid Bougherra's close-range header following another cracking Jerome Rothen delivery. What a save!

1258: Kenny Miller blazes widely over the bar from just inside the box as it smacks an empty seat behind John Ruddy's goal. The Rangers and Scotland man looks short on confidence...

1255: John Sutton spurns the best chance of the game. A great passing move from the left finds debutant Yassin Moutaouakil on the opposite wing, but Sutton fails to convert his wicked cross. We're still goalless at Fir Park with six minutes remaining in the first half.

1254: More travel chaos: the Stranraer team bus is stuck in the M8 traffic jam and it looks unlikely that the team will make it to Berwick for today's Third Division match.

1253: Important travel news for fans heading to Hearts v Kilmarnock: the M8 at Junction 5, Kirk Of Shotts is closed eastbound.

1252: Motherwell fans are up-in-arms after Rangers midfielder Pedro Mendes tumbles under a challenge from Giles Coke. Boos reverberate around Fir Park as the subsequent free-kick is cleared for a corner.

1251: "Jim O'Brien started the season at right-back but is now on the left wing, showing the former Celtic player's versatility." BBC Radio Scotland commentator John Barnes

1250: "Rangers have lost their way in the last 10 minutes and are defending too deep." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

1249: Fifteen minutes until half-time and both sides are trading blows in midfield like ageing heavyweight boxers. But little goalmouth action to quicken the pulse, I'm afraid.

1246: Jim O'Brien looks to the heavens in frustration. The man of the match so far dances inside Steven Whittaker and sees the whites of Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor's eyes, but his shot trickles well wide.

1244: Motherwell retain possession for a couple of minutes and a good few passes, before Mark Reynolds's long ball towards John Sutton is snuffed out by Madjid Bougherra. The game needs a bit of magic in the final third to wake up both goalkeepers!

1242: Steven Whittaker heads clear for a Motherwell corner after superb play on the left once again by the ever-dangerous Jim O'Brien. A good couple of minutes from the Steelmen, who are now warming to the task.

1240: Jim O'Brien shows a great piece of skill on the centre circle, to dance away from the Rangers midfield. But he fails to find John Sutton with a clever ball threaded behind Whittaker.

1237: Motherwell are struggling to get their forwards into the game and Allan McGregor has been a virtual spectator. Rangers force another corner following a good run and cross from Steven Whittaker, but Mendes drags a shot wide. The pressure is beginning to build on the home side.

1234: Jerome Rothen whips in another cracking corner from the right, but Madjid Bougherra fails to profit and Motherwell clear. The game is warming up nicely now.

1233: "If Motherwell can get it to their midfield quickly they can play football but their back-line today isn't suited for that." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

1232: Previous clashes between these two sides at Fir Park have traditionally been of the blood and thunder variety, but the hosts seem less frenetic under new boss Jim Gannon.

1230: Rangers defender Sasa Papac plays a couple of neat one-twos, before Well goalkeeper John Ruddy punches clear just as Papac looks to head home. The best move of the match so far!

1229: Motherwell spurn a great chance when John Sutton heads Ross Forbes's inviting free-kick wide. Neither goalkeeper has had his palms stung in a fairly tame opening quarter.

1228:
My Sport
From Bebob the Bear On My Sport: "I'm surprised Naismith isn't playing after performing so well against the Dutch."

1226: Rangers defender David Weir limps to the touchline after landing awkwardly on his ankle. Walter Smith will be hoping the 39-year-old remains injury-free this season, as centre halves at Ibrox are few and far between...

1224: Jerome Rothen whips in a dangerous corner from the right, but Motherwell clear, eventually. Rangers' new winger looks as though he'll be more than useful set-pieces.

1222: "Kenny Miller's effort was a warning for Motherwell that when they're attacking they have to keep an eye on defence too." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Billy Dodds

1221: Pedro Mendes feeds Miller in the box, but the striker can't get the ball out from under his feet. Neither goalkeeper has been called into action in the opening five minutes.

1219: Rangers striker Kenny Miller sends a shot well wide of Motherwell goalkeeper John Ruddy's left-hand post. The Scotland forward is booed by a section of the home supporters. That's harsh!

1218: The Rangers defence clear an early Jim O'Brien corner. Bright start from the hosts.

1217: "Stephen Craigan is a big player for us, but he is at a stage in his career when, if he plays two big international games in a week, it takes its toll on him." Motherwell manager Jim Gannon explained why the Northern Ireland defender is on the bench.

1216: We're under way at Fir Park!

1215: Rangers' new boy Jerome Rothen receives a high-five from team-mate Sasa Papac.

1214: The sun is shining at Fir Park and let's hope we're in for a cracker!

1208:
My Sport
From DCooper7 On My Sport: "A walk in the park for Rangers today 3-0 the scoreline with Boyd (2) and Mendes chipping in the 3rd."

1203: Rangers' new signing Jerome Rothen makes his debut, following his loan from Paris St Germain. The winger gets the nod ahead of Steven Naismith, who was mightily impressive in Scotland's defeat by the Netherlands on Wednesday.

1200: Motherwell give right-back Yassin Moutaouakil his debut following his loan move from Charlton. John Sutton was back in the starting line-up but Stephen Craigan was dropped to the bench.

Rangers: McGregor, Whittaker, Bougherra, Weir, Papac, McCulloch, Davis, Mendes, Rothen, Boyd, Miller. Subs: Alexander, Thomson, Novo, Naismith, Fleck, Little, Wilson.

1156: TEAM NEWS. Motherwell: Ruddy, Moutaouakil, Saunders, Reynolds, Hammell, O'Brien, Hateley, Coke, Forbes, Murphy, Sutton. Subs: Kosiorowski, Craigan, Jennings, Jutkiewicz, Lasley, Page, McHugh.

1150: Then, in our 3pm games Celtic entertain Dundee United, Hearts take on Kilmarnock and St Mirren host St Johnstone.

1149: Scottish football supporters need cheering up following the disappointment of failing to qualify for the World Cup. What better way to raise the collective spirit this lunchtime than by enjoying Motherwell versus Rangers at Fir Park?

1148: Good morning, and welcome to our live text commentary of week four of the new Scottish Premier League season.
