Sussex all-rounder Wright was injured by a bowling machine at Loughborough

England all-rounder Luke Wright is an injury doubt for Tuesday's fifth one-day international against Australia at Trent Bridge in Nottingham.

Wright was struck on the toe while batting against a bowling machine at the National Cricket Performance Centre in Loughborough and has had stitches.

He will be assessed further ahead of the day-night game.

Australia are on a roll after clinching the ODI series 4-0 but Wright's injury may hamper England's selection options.

Meanwhile, England captain Andrew Strauss hopes his side can reverse a downward trend - despite the absence of star players Kevin Pietersen and Andrew Flintoff.

With the series already lost, Strauss said: "Other people have to stand up. In a good, functioning one-day team you have got match-winners everywhere.

"The top six all have to be capable of getting one-day international hundreds - and hundreds generally win you games."

A measure of England's reliance on Strauss at the top of the order is that the skipper has scored 185 runs in four innings this series - nearly twice as many as the next highest-scoring England batsman.

"We are all capable of scoring hundreds but we haven't done it," he added.

"Until someone does do it we are always going to find things a little bit difficult."

Meanwhile, stand-in Australia coach Troy Cooley insists there is more to come from Brett Lee after the paceman took 5-49 in a ferocious spell of fast bowling in the fourth ODI at Lord's.

"We still think he's got a little bit to go and he thinks he has a little bit more to go," stated bowling coach Cooley, who is deputising while head coach Tim Nielsen takes a break ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy later this month.

"As you can see, he has got the most ferocious inswinger in the game at the moment.

"To see what he has been through, when he broke his foot and came back again, then tear a side, and get his fitness up and see him hit that top pace, which we know he's got, and to sustain that, it's very pleasing for Brett and all of us."

Having exceeded 95mph at Lord's, Lee feels he can break the 100mph mark.

"He keeps saying it, so we're happy to keep pushing him up there," added Cooley.

"He is doing all the right things to make sure he is at full tilt whenever he can be, he is a champion."

Having rested them at Lord's, England should follow their pre-announced plan to rest all-rounder Paul Collingwood for two more games and seamer James Anderson for one more game - but doubts over Wright's participation could limit any changes to the batting order.
