Blackburn Rovers striker Benni McCarthy has been recalled by coach Carlos Alberto Parreira for his first squad back in charge of South Africa.
However there is no place for defender Nasief Morris, who plays for Racing Santander in Spain.
Kermit Erasmus is one of three players from South Africa's Under-20 World Cup squad to get a call up.
The World Cup hosts play friendlies against Japan on 14 November and then Jamaica three days later.
McCarthy has not featured for his country since a friendly against Chile in February.
He was left out of the squad for June's Confederations Cup because he decided to remain in England during the build-up to the tournament.
Former coach Joel Santana refused to bring him back into the line up despite growing calls for his inclusion.
Now Parreira has reversed his fellow countryman's decision.
