Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee is holding talks with Nigerian international Paul Obiefule with a view to signing the midfielder in January.

The Dons tried to sign the 23-year-old last summer, but could not agree terms with his current employers, Norwegian outfit Lyn Oslo.

Obiefule joined Lyn Oslo from Scandinavian rivals Viborg FF in July 2007 and has 10 caps for his country.

He started his career with Nigerian club Heartland.

Obiefule, who nearly joined Belgian side Germinal Beerschot in 2006, made his debut for Nigeria at the LG tournament in Lagos in 2004.
