Rangers striker Kris Boyd does not intend to speak to Scotland boss Craig Levein but says he is ready and willing to return to the international set-up.
"I want to be involved again," said the in-form goalscorer, who in October 2008 said he no longer wished to play for previous Scotland coach George Burley.
He added: "It's up to the manager if he wants to pick me but I am ready and want to play for my country again."
Boyd has scored seven goals in 15 appearances for his country.
The Ibrox centre-forward has accumulated 14 goals in the Scottish Premier League to date this season and is just three off Celtic hero Henrik Larsson's SPL record of 158.
Boyd said: "I feel as though the time is right for me. I have improved as a player and hopefully I can show that at international level."
Boyd eyes international recall
The striker's return will doubtless upset those members of the Tartan Army who criticised the player for refusing to play for Burley.
Former Scotland boss Craig Brown, currently the interim manager at Motherwell, said last week that he thought Boyd should not be allowed to resurrect his career under Levein.
But the current manager and player would now evidently like to begin a new chapter for Scotland.
"I didn't have a problem with George Burley, I just felt that something had to give," Boyd told reporters at Murray Park on Tuesday.
"I wasn't playing at club level and international level wasn't helping me because I wasn't doing anything there either.
"We were away for 10 days at a time and that wasn't helping anybody.
"So hopefully now that I have got myself back established in the Rangers team I can go forward and help Scotland in the future."
Meanwhile, Kenny Miller says he would love to play up front with Boyd for Scotland as the pair could put their understanding at club level to good use for the national team.
