Figueroa posted an early contender for goal of the season against Stoke
|
Wigan manager Roberto Martinez admits he expects defender Maynor Figueroa to leave the club in the near future.
Figueroa hit the headlines with a 60-yard wonder-strike in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Stoke City, and has been in impressive form throughout the season.
It has led to him being moved with a £6m move away from the club in January.
But Martinez said: "He'll probably go next summer, but until then we will enjoy his play. I don't think he should change clubs before the World Cup."
Sunderland and Stoke have both been linked with moves for the Honduran 26-year-old following a string of fine performances since he joined the Latics last season.

And Martinez has revealed he will struggle to keep the player at the club long-term.
"He is the kind of player we want to keep, of course," he said. "Obviously we don't want to lose our best performers and Maynor has been outstanding the whole season. And it is not just that, he is terrific character.
"But we know that we will not be able to keep him forever because the reality is he is slowly fulfilling his potential, and his potential should be to go to the top of the top."
Figueroa's stunning strike on Saturday was only his second goal in English football.
