Dallas Cowboys ended 13 years of play-off misery with a convincing 34-14 victory over Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Wild Card contest.

The Cowboys, whose last post-season win was in December 1996, scored four touchdowns to set up a NFC divisional round clash with Minnesota Vikings.

In the AFC, rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez led the New York Jets to a 24-14 Wild Card win over Cincinnati.

Sanchez completed 12 of 15 passes and threw for one touchdown.

The 23-year-old, making his play-off debut, is only the fourth rookie quarterback since 1950 to start and win a play-off game.

His performance was in contrast to opposite number Carson Palmer, who completed only 18 of 36 passes, was sacked three times and was intercepted once.

In Dallas, the Cowboys took the lead in the second quarter with quarterback Tony Romo's one-yard pass to John Phillips.

Philadelphia tied the game at 7-7 a minute later when Michael Vick, in on the play for starting quarterback Donovan McNabb, threw a 76-yard touchdown pass to rookie wide receiver Jeremy Maclin.

But the Cowboys dominated the rest of the quarter and were 27-7 ahead at half-time.

Tashard Choice dived over for a touchdown and wide receiver Miles Austin took a one-yard pass for another, with Shaun Suisham kicking both extra points and two field goals.

Running back Felix Jones ran in from 73 yards in the third quarter to put the result beyond doubt while Philadelphia nabbed a consolation with McNabb's four-yard touchdown pass to Desean Jackson in the final period.

"We're a very good football team and we're on a roll right now," said Cowboys coach Wade Phillips after his side recorded their fourth straight win.

It's a great team effort and we are a heck of a football team

"We got stronger at the end of the year and we are playing our best football. We have a good shot going in. We play a tough team next week but we are looking forward to that one."

In Cincinnati, the home side started brightly and after spurning an early chance, Laveranues Coles took an 11-yard touchdown pass to opening the scoring.

But the Jets responded in the second quarter, Shonn Greene racing 39 yards down the sideline for a score and Sanchez hooking up with tight end Dustin Keller on a 45-yard touchdown play.

A Thomas Jones touchdown run in the third quarter extended New York's lead, before running back Cedric Benson moved the Bengals to within seven points in the final period.

Jay Feely fired over a field goal to increase New York's lead to 10 while two missed attempts from Shane Graham prevented a Cincinnati rally.

"Our guys are a resilient bunch, it's a great team effort and we are a heck of a football team," said Jets head coach Rex Ryan.

"That's what we believe. If people don't believe it hopefully they will and soon."
