The players would like a better system of payment and incentives
|
Members of India's national hockey team have refused to attend training camps for the upcoming World Cup because of a wage dispute.
The team went on an indefinite strike on Sunday despite reports of a truce with the hockey authorities.
Indian hockey authorities have accused the players of blackmailing them and holding the "nation to ransom."
The hockey World Cup begins in the Indian capital of Delhi on February 28 and lasts for a fortnight.
Indian player Prabhjot Singh, who has been appointed by his teammates as their representative, said the authorities had not given the incentives to players that they asked for.
"Till we have a final decision on this, we will not practice," he told reporters.
Reports said the players and authorities had reached a truce on Sunday, but the players have continued the strike.
