Ogilvy enjoyed a consistent week in Hawaii to defend his title

Geoff Ogilvy defended his title at Kapalua as he won the USPGA's season-opening SBS Championship by a stroke.

The Australian shot a final-round 67 in Hawaii to win by a shot at 22 under par from South Africa's Rory Sabbatini.

Scotland's Martin Laird was tied for fourth on 18 under with Sean O'Hair of the United States, whose compatriot Matt Kuchar took third on 19 under.

England's Paul Casey carded a 69 to tie for 10th with the likes of Steve Stricker and Angel Cabrera.

Ogilvy started the day one shot back on third-round leader and US Open champion Lucas Glover, whose 76 saw him tumble down into 14th place.

Sabbatini became the early pacesetter with a 10-birdie 63 that gave him the clubhouse lead until Ogilvy brought up the rear and took the title, the Australian knowing he only needed a par five at the last to win by a shot.

Laird had been in contention all week and at 19 under after 15 holes was just three shots back only to bogey 16 and 17 to ruin his hopes of victory. However, his birdie at the last ensured a decent payday.
