By Martin Conaghan

1545: Aberdeen's Charlie Mulgrew goes close to doubling the Dons' lead with a curling free-kick that bends impossibly around the wall as the ref blows the whistle for half-time at Tannadice.

1543: "If only the football was as good as the service for pies." BBC Scotland's Alasdair Lamont at St Mirren Park, pitching for a role as a radio chef now.

1540: Aberdeen's Peter Pawlett picks up his fourth yellow card of the season for a late challenge.

1538: A rare effort on goal, but David Fernandez's tame effort squirms comfortably wide of the St Mirren goal

1539: Five minutes until half-time and it's been a pretty dull affair at St Mirren Park, although Killie full-back Jamie Hamill runs from the half way line but, one-on-one with Gallacher in the St Mirren goal, he shoots straight at the keeper.

1537: mem on My Sport writes: "Dundee Utd need to get themselves a new manager and get some stability into their club or they could start sliding badly down the table. You could see that the speculation of Levein even leaving shook the club badly starting from when we (Gers) beat them at Tannadice." Send us your thoughts on the action.

1536: "There's some really strong but fair challenges going in at the moment." BBC Scotland commentator Scott Davie at Tannadice.

1535: A text to 80295 from Alan Kilmarnock suggests something to do when the weather outside is frightful...as the song goes: "Bring back soccer sevens to play games when the weather outside is too bad to play."

1534: A wee update from the Edinburgh v Glasgow from our rugby man Jim Mason: "Dan Parks is running the show for Glasgow, with Edinburgh trailing 11-3 after just 24 minutes of the game."

1533: "Aberdeen started really well, but the last five minutes they haven't been a threat." BBC Scotland pundit Sandy Clark at Tannadice.

1532: "United are coming a bit more into the game, but their final pass is letting them down." BBC Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod at Tannadice.

1531: Apparently, the Aberdeen fans have brought snowballs with them into the stadium at Tannadice and are chucking them at the Dundee United players any time their hosts are on the ball. We presume it's the ones made of snow, and not the variety you can get from Lee's of Coatbridge?

1529: Killie keeper Mark Brown tips an Andy Dorman shot wide via a deflection off the post.

1528: Big Angus has texted 80295 with a suggestion for failed panto dame James Traynor: "We are clearing snow and we heard big Transo slagging the council. Tell Mr Blobby to come down to our depot and we will teach him to do head, shoulders, knees and toes."

1525: "I feel for Casalinuovo and Cadermarteri up front for United, because they're getting no service, while Darren Mackie is seeing loads of the ball for the Dons." BBC Scotland pundit Sandy Clark at Tannadice.

1524: "Some light snow has started to fall here." BBC Scotland's Alasdair Lamont at St Mirren Park pitched to replace Heather Reid as the BBC's new weathergirl.

1523: BBC Scotland commentator Scott Davie as just announced that Tuesday's rescheduled match between Falkirk and St Johnstone will NOT take place on Tuesday 5 January. We will update you when the SPL's Department of Rescheduling Matches That Have Been Rescheduled lets us know when the match will actually take place.

1522: "Aberdeen's midfield players have so much time on the ball." BBC Scotland pundit Sandy Clark at Tannadice.

1521: madscot125 on My Sport: "For once the fixture list for the New Year games are quite sensible. No one has had to travel very far to their games in the snow. The SPL managed to do something right." Send us your thoughts on the action.

1520: "St Mirren looking the more likely at the moment." BBC Scotland's Alasdair Lamont at St Mirren Park

1519: Good build-up play involving Darren Mackie and Marshall, who had the opportunity to shoot, but instead picked out Charlie Mulgrew who picked his spot low past Weaver.

1518: St Mirren get into a threatening area, but Stephen McGinn's pass misses the lurking Andy Dorman by some distance.

1517: "What a super goal, absolutely fantastic build up. Marshall just slipped the ball to Mulgrew who guided it into the bottom corner." BBC Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod at Tannadice.

1515: GOAL AT TANNADICE! Dundee United 0-1 Aberdeen
Goooooooaaaaaaaaal

1508: "I think it's been a very good start to the match. Aberdeen look to have that freshness about them just now" BBC Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod at Tannadice.

1506: "Three points are a must for Aberdeen today. We will be looking at a bottom six finish if we're not careful." from Leadfeet1903 on My Sport. Send us your thoughts on the action.

1504: "It's been a fairly decent game to start with. Fyvie and Pawlett have been moving all over the pitch for Aberdeen, and United are finding it hard to pick them up" BBC Scotland pundit Sandy Clark at Tannadice.

1501: Team news from Tannadice:
Dundee Utd: Weaver, Kovacevic, Webster, Kenneth, Dixon, Gomis, Dillon, Buaben, Conway, Cadamarteri, Casalinuovo. Subs: Banks, Dods, Myrie-Williams, Daly, David Robertson, Swanson, Goodwillie.
Aberdeen: Langfield, Considine, Grassi, Foster, Mulgrew, Kerr, Fyvie, Pawlett, Ifil, Mackie, Marshall. Subs: Nelson, Maguire, Young, Wright, Paton, Crawford, Jack.
Today's referee is Calum Murray

1500: And we're off!

1457: We've just heard from the SPL that Falkirk's game against St Johnstone has been rescheduled for Tuesday 5 January at 1945. Presumably that came from the SPL's Department for Rescheduling Matches?

1455: According to our very own Richard Gordon, the SPL has established a "dubious goals panel" to make sure every goal counts (in addition to discounting goals that, well, don't count) when tallying up records. It sounds like something from a Monty Python sketch. "Excuse me sir but I'm here to see someone from The Department of Dubious Goals"...

1453: Getting close to kick-off now folks. Only two matches survived the freezing weather today, but we'll do our best to make sure you get every crucial update from St Mirren Park and Tannadice.

1449: Some team news coming in from St Mirren Park:
St Mirren: Gallacher, Mair, Potter, Barron, McGinn, Murray, Dorman, Ross, O'Donnell, Mehmet, Dargo. Subs: Howard, Robb, Wyness, Innes, Devlin, Ramsay, Johnston. Kilmarnock: Mark Brown, Fowler, Wright, O'Leary, Pascali, Invincibile, Skelton, Bryson, Hamill, Fernandez, Sammon. Subs: Bell, Hay, Taouil, Kyle, Owens, Flannigan, Kelly. And today's man in black with the whistle is Alan Muir

1445: Welcome to this afternoon's live text commentary of the two remaining fixtures on the Scottish football schedule.
