England women held their nerve to seal a two-wicket win in the final match of their series with India in Mumbai.

Trailing 3-1 in the five-match series, the world champions justified their decision at the toss to field first by reducing India to 26-4 off 14 overs.

Harmanpreet Kaur's 84 led the hosts to 206-9, though, and England were grateful to opener Heather Knight's 49.

Danielle Wyatt (25) followed that with some vital late boundaries as England reached 210-8 with one ball to spare.

The win provides little more than consolation for an England side that are the current World one-day and Twenty20 champions and Ashes holders, but have still to win a series in India.

However, it does at least provide the team with some impetus going into the three forthcoming Twenty20 matches.

And they owed the win largely to the cool head of Wyatt, whose 26-ball knock shepherded home the England tail with a perfectly-timed innings.

She was aided by Danielle Hazell (18 off 11 balls), with the pair coming together at 161-6 with seven overs remaining.

England bowlers Nicky Shaw and Katherine Brunt earlier tore through the India openers before Kaur and Mithali Raj (50) combined to lead the hosts to the highest total of the series so far.

But it was not enough as the home side, despite losing wickets regularly, kept their cool to ensure the series ends 3-2.
