2046: The second half begins.
"I think that the games are sapping the life from Rangers. And we will have to still grind out another 4-5 games. But if any man can get that from a team it's Walter." A Rangers fan texts 80295 to reassure his fellow bears.
2043: Walter Smith makes two changes for the second half. Kris Boyd and Kevin Thomson make way for Kyle Lafferty and Maurice Edu.
2041: Of course, in the Scottish Cup Rangers let in three at home to Dundee United.
2038: Who could have guessed this St Johnstone v Rangers scoreline? Rangers have never conceded more than one goal in the league all season.
2034: Queen's Park and East Stirlingshire are enjoying 1-0 half-time leads in the Third Division.
2033: Elsewhere, it's goalless at Cappielow, where Morton and Ayr United are battling for First Division survival. In the Second Division, the only goal has been at East Fife, who lead Brechin 1-0.
|
"A sixth season in the First Division for the once proud Dundee looks likely. Bring back Jocky!" An anonymous text highlights that the Dee are 2-0 down at Dunfermline, and with Inverness scudding Ross County 3-0, the title is slipping from their grasp.
2025: Walter Smith looks none too impressed with his players, though I dare say he'll credit St Johnstone for this first-half display. They have been tremendous, winning every loose ball and making the Rangers back four dizzy.

GOAL St Johnstone 3-1 Rangers
GOAL Dunfermline 2-0 Dundee (Bell)
2017: Cillian Sheridan whizzes down the left under pressure from scampering wee Steven Davis and blasts into the side netting. Saint Johnstone look the team more likely to score.
A text to 80295 from Bob in Montrose. "Re 1955 it has to be Jim Jefferies. St Johnstone are rampant. McInnes for Celtic Park."
2012: Graeme Smith smothers a Steven Naismith lob at close range as the Glasgow side push for the equaliser.
2011: As if it hasn't been a turbulent enough day for
Cowdenbeath
, their goalless home match against Stirling Albion has been postponed after 18 minutes because of a snowfall.
2009: Back in Perth, Lee McCulloch volleys a right-foot shot high and wide from the edge of the box. He has scored a few from that position over the years.
2007: Maybe Dave is a Dundee fan, for they are losing 1-0 to Dunfermline. Things are not going well for Gordon Chisholm and my former BBC colleague Billy Dodds.
"The game at East End Park shouldn't be on, hardly anyone here, the pitch is a mess and it's just plain stupidity!" Dave by text to 80295 is none too chuffed at events in Dunfermline.
2003: What an amazing opening 18 minutes! I think it might have something to do with the temperature - the players are looking for an excuse to cuddle together to stay warm. Remember those public safety films you'd see on the telly in the late 1970s, advising you what to do if you fear someone is suffering from hypothermia?

GOAL St Johnstone 2-1 Rangers
2000: Looks like that deflection for St Johnstone's second came off Davie Weir, not Lee McCulloch.
GOAL Inverness Caledonian Thistle 1-0 Ross County (Foran)
|
GOAL St Johnstone 2-0 Rangers
1955: So who is most worried - Hearts manager Jim Jefferies or Rangers boss Walter Smith?
|
GOAL St Johnstone 1-0 Rangers
1952: Steven Anderson is scolded like a naughty schoolboy by Master Tumilty for a robust challenge on Rangers striker Kenny Miller. That looked a fair tackle to me.
1950: Hearts currently occupy sixth spot in the league. They are five points ahead of St Johnstone but have played a game more.
1948: The first chance goes to St Johnstone, Filipe Morais hoofing a shot straight at Allan McGregor from just outside the box.
1946: This is an important game for the Super Saintees. Not only have they all but guaranteed their SPL status in their first season back in the top flight, but they could yet finish in the top six.
1945: And we're off! St Johnstone in blue, Rangers in white.
1943: The match at McDiarmid Park, you may be aware, is a rearranged game, after the Perth pitch was deemed unplayable earlier this year less than an hour before kick-off.
1941: So, this is officially British summer time? OK, summer time in terms of the clocks. But what about this weather? Blizzards in Perthshire, Aberdeenshire, the A82 passable only for those in four-wheel drive vehicles, five matches called off because of snow or flooding... Argh. I'm beginning to sound like Les Dawson dressed up as an old woman down the Post Office.
1940: The referee in Perth tonight is Mike Tumilty.
1938: I'm looking at pictures of McDiarmid Park coming into our building here at Pacific Quay in Glasgow. The pitch looks in reasonable condition, though snow can be seen in the hills in the distance.
1932: The Ibrox side are 10 points ahead of Celtic with two games in hand. They have nine league games remaining.
1931: Rangers need only four more SPL victories to retain their league title, assuming Celtic don't slip up further.
1930: We will have highlights of St Johnstone v Rangers available on the BBC Sport site at midnight...for UK users only.
1928: The guys are discussing who should be Scotland's player of the year. Rangers players are getting plenty of mentions - Davie Weir, Steven Davis, Kris Boyd. Andy Webster at Dundee United gets pundit John Robertson's vote. And how about Celtic's Aiden McGeady?
1925: St Johnstone will be playing their seventh game in only 24 days, a punishing schedule for Derek McInnes and his team.
1921: And Rangers go with: McGregor, Whittaker, Weir, Wilson, Papac, Naismith, McCulloch, Thomson, Davis, Boyd, Miller. Subs: Alexander, Edu, Novo, Smith, Lafferty, Little, Fleck
1920: The St Johnstone team to take on the Ibrox side is: Smith, MacKay, Duberry, Anderson, Grainger, Morais, Millar, Morris, Craig, Sheridan, Deuchar. Subs: Main, Irvine, Sheerin, Davidson, Swankie, Reynolds, Samuel
1915: A warm welcome on a freezing evening to St Johnstone v Rangers, plus score updates from the Scottish Football League.
