Owusu-Abeyie set for Qatar move

Owusu-Abeyie has had loan spells at Cardiff and Birmingham

On-loan striker Quincy Owusu-Abeyie is set to leave beleaguered Portsmouth after agreeing a move to Qatar.

Pompey will terminate their loan deal with the Ghana international's parent club Spartak Moscow in order to allow the ex-Arsenal man to sign for Al Sadd.

Owusu-Abeyie had joined Portsmouth on a season-long loan in January, with the club reported to have paid an up-front fee of £500,000 for his services.

Spartak are set to pay half of that sum back to the cash-strapped club.

The move further reduces manager Avram Grant's rapidly depleting options ahead of Portsmouth's crucial FA Cup semi-final against Tottenham on 11 April.

Defender Hermann Hreidarsson and striker Danny Webber have been ruled out for six months with long-term injuries, while midfielder Jamie O'Hara is also unlikely to feature under the terms of his loan deal from Spurs.

Striker Aruna Dindane is unavailable because another appearance will trigger a payment to Lens which Portsmouth cannot afford.

Marc Wilson, Nadir Belhadj, Papa Bouba Diop, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Tal Ben-Haim and Hassan Yebda are all doubtful for the lucrative match.

Owusu-Abeyie scored one goal in 11 appearances for Portsmouth this season.
