RFL investigates Senior comment

The Rugby Football League are to investigate comments made by Leeds centre Keith Senior about World Club Challenge referee Richard Silverwood.

Senior called Silverwood "arrogant" following the Rhinos' 18-10 defeat at Elland Road to Melbourne Storm, but he has since apologised for the remark.

"I would like to apologise for any offence caused by my comments following our defeat to Melbourne," said Senior.

"Unfortunately I let my emotions get the better of me."

Senior will meet with Rhinos chief executive Gary Hetherington on Monday to explain his comments and to ascertain whether any action should be taken as part of the club's internal disciplinary procedures.

"Having had time to reflect on my comments, I appreciate that, like us players, referees have a difficult job to do and we do not have a game without them," Senior added.

"Finally, I would like to congratulate Melbourne on their win and we can now look forward to getting back to action in Super League this Friday against Quins."

Meanwhile the Rhinos will found out the extend of captain Kevin Sinfield's injury on Monday.

He suffered a leg injury in Sunday's match at Elland Road.
