Celtic 4 - 0 St Mirren
Ledley opened the scoring on a comfortable afternoon for Celtic
Celtic turned on the style to maintain their winning start to the Scottish Premier League campaign.
Joe Ledley shot the home side into an early lead before Beram Kayal rattled the crossbar from long range.
A Shaun Maloney effort then went in off St Mirren defender David van Zanten, with Maloney and Marc-Antoine Fortune hitting the woodwork before the break.
Celtic dominated throughout and James Forrest and Ki Sung-Yeung both added fine strikes in the second half.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon fielded a very attack-minded side, with Forrest catching the eye on his first league start and Welsh midfielder Ledley filling in at left-back.
A sparkling performance yielded four goals and St Mirren can count themselves fortunate not to have lost by a few more.
Forrest had an immediate impact as he played a major part in Celtic taking a sixth minute lead, darting beyond two defenders on the left flank before playing the ball infield.
His pass was collected by Georgios Samaras who slipped Ledley through and the summer signing from Cardiff produced a low driven finish with the outside of his foot.
Samaras was proving difficult for St Mirren to track and he again found space to set up Fortune to cut inside and fire into the side-netting.
St Mirren rarely threatened but the Paisley side did spurn a good chance when Darren McGregor's poor control prevented him getting a shot in before Lukasz Zaluska's diving block.
Celtic almost doubled their advantage in the 22nd minute when Samaras tapped the ball to Kayal who produced a stunning shot from distance that bounced back off the junction of post and crossbar.
A minute later and the ball was in the net as Fortune advanced down the right and from his low cross, Maloney was claiming the final touch, although van Zanten appeared to be the unfortunate scorer of an own goal.
Keen to claim a more clear-cut goal, Maloney then struck Paul Gallacher's left-hand post with a fierce shot and from the rebound Fortune's effort hit the outside of the same upright.
The one-way traffic continued after the break, first Scott Brown going close from distance and then Gallacher being forced into a fine low save to keep out a Samaras strike.
The busy Maloney sent in a dangerous free-kick that Hooiveld sent narrowly wide with a glancing header.
Forrest's big moment came on 68 minutes when Fortune set up the youngster to power an angled drive beyond Gallacher.
St Mirren offered little in response, but Sean Lynch should still have done better as he could only manage a tame effort when the chance to shoot arose with Zaluska out of position.
Substitute Ki had enough time to leave his mark on the game with an outstanding fourth goal, leaving Gallacher motionless with a terrific long-range strike.
