Peter Hanson won a play-off to win the Czech Open and move into eighth place in the qualifying list for Europe's Ryder Cup team with one event to go.

The Swede holed a birdie on the second extra hole to beat Gary Boyd and Peter Lawrie to the first prize.

Hanson's victory means Paul Casey, who did not play in Celadna, must rely on receiving one of Europe captain Colin Montgomerie's three wildcard picks.

Miguel Angel Jimenez occupies the ninth and last automatic qualifying spot.

Englishman Casey has elected to skip next week's race-ending Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles.

His decision not to compete for Ryder Cup points in Perthshire to instead play at the lucrative FedEx Cup play-offs in the United States means Montgomerie must leave one of Casey, Padraig Harrington, Luke Donald and Justin Rose out of his team for October's Celtic Manor contest.

Cup hopefuls Jimenez and Simon Dyson, Hanson's closest rivals after the third round, failed to challenge for the top prize money.

Spaniard Jimenez, shot a 73, to finish three off the play-off contenders, while Englishman Dyson went round in 72 to end a stroke better, tied for fifth alongside France's Julien Guerrier.

England's Anthony Wall was alone in fourth after a blemish-free 67 left him a stroke behind the leading trio.
