Catalans Dragons second row Jamal Fakir has abandoned plans to switch codes at the end of the 2010 Super League season and play rugby union.
The Dragons agreed in May to release the 27-year-old France international from the last year of his contract but he has committed to three more years.
Dragons chief Christopher Jouffret said: "We're very happy to keep Jamal.
"He has become a key player in the team and it's great to have him for the next three seasons."
French Top 14 club Castres and Glasgow had offered Fakir deals and Jouffret added: "It is especially satisfying to see him stay at the club despite the offers he has received, especially from the Glasgow Warriors.
"That bodes well for the future."
Fakir is one of three survivors from Catalans' first Super League match - a 38-30 victory over Wigan in the opening match of the 2006 season.
He has gone on to clock up more than 70 Super League appearances, but missed the Dragons' 2007 Challenge Cup final appearance because of injury.
