1248: So, no goals so far at Fir Park but plenty of chances, mostly for the visitor. Will either side be able to find the breakthrough after the interval.
|
"I am sure Craig and Archie will be glad to hear the half-time whistle so they can change things about a bit. They don't have enough width and just a lone striker through the middle when it gets there." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod
1245: Celtic's Shaun Maloney beats three men to weave his way into a scoring position but his effort hits the side netting.
1240: Glenn Loovens' sliced clearance goes back towards the Celtic goal and over goalkeeper Fraser Forster but the ball is cleared by Cha Du-Ri before Motherwell can profit.
1238: Daryl Murphy's header from 14 yards out dips over the crossbar as Celtic continue to press.
1234: Cha Du-Ri's ambitious shot from distance sails high and wide of the Motherwell goal before the visitors are forced into an early substitution, Jonathan Page replacing the injured Steven Hammell.
|
"I think Craig Brown and Archie Knox will tweak things to get more of the ball, so I think Motherwell will get better as the game goes on and Celtic need the goal while they are dominating possession." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod
1222: Celtic captain Scott Brown has a drive from outside the box that is blocked by a defender but the visitors work the ball back out to the right and James Forest's cross is headed wide by Shaun Maloney.
1217: Celtic meander their way to the edge of the Motherwell box with a series of passes but Georgios Samaras' mishit shot takes the sting out of the move.
"Motherwell, when they pick they ball up, they are trying to force everything. They have to take their time and pick their passes." BBC Radio Scotland pundit Murdo MacLeod
1210: More pressure from Celtic as Daryl Murphy cuts in from the right and fires in a shot that takes a deflection off Motherwell captain Stephen Craigan, forcing goalkeeper Darren Randolph to tip over. From the corner, James Forest collects and tries for goal but Randolph claims the ball at his near post.
|
1204: Celtic have a chance with a free-kick after Shaun Maloney is tripped on the edge of the box but the midfielder's attempt curls over the crossbar.
1203: Celtic go straight to the other end and James Forest centres for Shaun Maloney, who looks certain to score with a tap-in only for Darren Randolph to pull off an excellent reflex save.
1202: An early set piece opportunity for the Steelmen sees Tom Hateley flighting the ball in and John Sutton heading narrowly wide at the near post.
1200: And we're off at Fir Park with hosts Motherwell kicking off against Celtic.
1155: Remember, later in the afternoon we have St Mirren v Hibernian and Hearts v Dundee United after the conclusion of Motherwell's home match against Celtic.
1154: Both sides suffered European exits in midweek and will be looking to bounce back straight away.
