Aston Villa striker Gabriel Agbonlahor will undergo an operation on Monday that will keep him out for two weeks.

Agbonlahor, 23, will have minor surgery on his groin and misses Villa's Premier League game at Spurs on Saturday.

"Gabby had to leave training on Friday morning because it was too painful," said Villa manager Gerard Houllier.

Three-times capped England frontman Agbonlahor will also be unavailable for the Euro 2012 qualifier against Montenegro on Tuesday 12 October.

Houllier added: "I think the England squad is named on Monday and that has definitely ruled him out. He wouldn't be able to play. It is not just a niggle, it is real pain and hopefully the operation will heal that."

Agbonlahor missed the first three games of the season with a calf problem and is yet to open his account in the Premier League this campaign.

Houllier is hopeful he will be able to return for the home game against Chelsea on 16 October, but if not the striker will definitely be back in action for the trip to Sunderland a week later.

Agbonlahor has scored only once in six games since returning from his last injury and was substituted in the last two matches.
