Bolton manager Owen Coyle has said Ivan Klasnic will come into consideration, despite being arrested this week.
But the Trotters remain without Ricardo Gardner Jlloyd Samuel, Sean Davis and Joey O'Brien.
Liverpool's Dirk Kuyt is making good progress in his recovery from an ankle problem, but he will not feature at the Reebok Stadium.
Glen Johnson has a slight chance of returning from injury, but Daniel Agger remains on the sidelines.

Liverpool
Doubtful: Johnson (hamstring)Injured: Agger (calf), Kuyt (ankle)
After last week's morale boosting win over Blackburn, Liverpool now face another north west side in Bolton, opponents that manager Roy Hodgson could not have hand picked better, given the Reds' recent record over the Trotters.
I was asked in the dressing room why I'm always scoring away from home, but that's the way it is... Hopefully a home goal will come against Liverpool on Sunday

In 22 Premier League encounters, Bolton have managed a paltry three victories over Liverpool and have lost the last seven on the trot.
But Owen Coyle's side have lost just one league game all season and have well and truly banished the ghosts of Gary Megson's reign. If they could uncover the secret of how to turn draws into victories, and how to get a reborn Johan Elmander scoring goals at home as well as away, a top-half finish this season looks a very achievable aim.
The relief that coursed around Anfield last week after Liverpool's win over Blackburn was palpable. Although they still remain in the relegation places and host Chelsea next Sunday, their fixture list eases as Christmas approaches.
Maybe the biggest plus for Hodgson was watching the out-of-sorts Fernando Torres end his goal drought. Considering Liverpool have failed to score a goal in the league since the opening day of the season without it being scored or assisted by the Spaniard or Steven Gerrard, they need their star men to be at the very top of their game.
Head-to-head
• Liverpool have beaten Bolton in their last seven league meetings.
• The Trotters have managed only three wins in 22 Premier League encounters with Liverpool. The Reds have won 15 and there have been four draws.
• This is the 130th meeting between the sides. Liverpool have won 54 matches, Bolton 43 and 32 draws.

• All five of Johan Elmander's goals in the Premier League this season have come away from home - he has scored only two league goals at the Reebok Stadium since arriving in 2008.
• Bolton have conceded 199 goals in north west derbies in the Premier League.
Liverpool
• Steven Gerrard enjoys facing Bolton and he has been on the scoresheet in his last two visits to the Reebok Stadium. He has scored seven goals against the Trotters, which is more than he has against any other side bar Aston Villa.
• The Reds have not managed to score a league goal that wasn't either scored or assisted by Gerrard or Fernando Torres since the opening day of the season.
• Liverpool are playing their 163rd match on a Sunday - a Premier League high.
