Yorkshire are looking to sign West Indies pace bowler Tino Best for the start of the new season after a successful trial for the club.

The Tykes need an overseas player as Ryan Harris is likely to remain with the Australia side, and New Zealander Daryl Tuffey has a broken hand.

Best impressed on the tour of Barbados, and director of cricket Martyn Moxon hopes to bring him to Headingley.

"He bowled really well, and we're hoping we can get him over" Moxon said.

"We thought it would be sensible to have a look at him in a match against Lancashire and he bowled really well," Moxon told BBC Radio Leeds.

"He bowled fast and in good areas for 14 overs and 1-12 were his figures. So we're hoping we can get him for April at least."

"But until we get all the paperwork from the West Indies board and the ECB then we can't announce it as a done deal," he continued.

Yorkshire have had to continue the search for an overseas player after first choice Ryan Harris' good form for Australia means it is likely he will stay with the national side.

Harris' replacement, New Zealand bowler Daryl Tuffey, was all set to arrive at Headingley but he will now miss six weeks of the season after breaking his hand in the first Test against Australia.

Moxon admits it has been a frustrating time.

"Obviously with Harris it is good that he's doing well, so you can't begrudge him that."

"But Tuffey is a big blow because it's happened so close to the start of the season," he continued.

"But we've got to take it on the chin. It is frustrating but we have a plan. Hopefully, we've got Tino coming over for April, and then we'll assess during April where we go for the rest of the summer."

"It is frustrating not to have something sorted for the rest of the season but that's the way it is these days with international cricket as it is."

"Injuries happen so we've got to deal with it and make the best of the job."
